CATSKILL, NEW YORK – Donald Gibson, President & CEO of the Bank of Greene County, announced the ribbon cutting and official opening of the Bank’s new Wealth Management Center, located in the old Tanners Bank Building at 345 Main Street in Catskill, NY.
Don Gibson stated “it is my distinct pleasure to announce another major investment in both our bank and our community. This building was added to the Greene County Historic Register, and joins our other four historic office buildings on Main Street in Catskill.”
The Bank of Greene County is celebrating its 135th Anniversary on January 22, 2024, having originally been founded as the Building and Loan Association of Catskill. Coming full-circle, the original office for the Building and Loan Association of Catskill was located in the basement of 345 Main Street, with the headquarters for the Tanners National Bank upstairs. When the building originally became available, Mr. Gibson and the Bank of Greene County couldn’t pass up the opportunity it presented to get back to their roots and original location.
The renovated Tanners Building was built in 1910, replacing the original structure that first housed the precursor to the Bank of Greene County in the basement. Don Gibson stated “this building is a true architectural and community treasure. I’m honored we had the opportunity to renovate it and preserve this piece of history.”
Attending the ribbon cutting were local dignitaries representing New York State, Greene County, and the Town and Village of Catskill, in addition to the Greene and Columbia County Chambers of Commerce, as well as community members and business owners from the area.
Departments located in the new Wealth Management Center will be Greene Investment Services, Greene Private Bank, Corporate Cash Management, and Finance.
